Prof Ruzita Mohd Amin

Prof. Ruzita Mohd Amin is a distinguished academic and advocate for disability rights, bringing decades of expertise in economics and a personal commitment to enhancing the lives of persons with disabilities. She holds a Ph.D. in Managerial Economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York, and has been a faculty member at IIUM since 1987, where she currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Economics.
In addition to her academic role, Prof. Ruzita is the Head of the Disability Services Unit at IIUM, where she has led numerous initiatives to improve accessibility and inclusion for students with disabilities. Her involvement extends to national-level advisory roles, including membership in the National Council for Persons with Disabilities and contributions to the development of disability inclusion policies in higher education.
Prof. Ruzita's research interests include international trade, economic integration, and the role of values in socio-economic development, with a special focus on the Islamic perspective and disability studies. Her contributions to the field have earned her multiple awards, including the IIUM Alumni Icon Award 2021 and the Anugerah Wanita MyWira 2024 from the Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia.
